GameStation: "We own your soul"
In a bid to prove that nobody reads the T&Cs of an online sale, GameStation added a new clause of their own...
GameStation has today revealed that it legally owns the souls of thousands of customers, thanks to a clause it secretly added to the online terms and conditions for the official GameStation website.
The "Immortal Soul Clause" was added as part of an attempt to highlight how few customers read the terms and conditions of an online sale. GameStation claims that 88 percent of customers did not read the clause, which gives legal ownership of the customer's soul over to the UK-based games retailer.
The remaining 12 percent of customers however did notice the clause and clicked the relevant opt-out box, netting themselves a £5 GBP gift voucher in the process.
GameStation executives are now assuring all customers that they are not enforcing the Immortal Soul Clause and will be contacting customers via email with a notice of nullification - phew!
According to News:Lite more than 7,500 customers fell for the simple ploy and missed out on the gift voucher.
The clause was added to GameStation's standard T&Cs on April 1st. |

| Microsoft offers web browser choice to IE users |
Source: BBC
Millions of European Internet Explorer (IE) users will have the option to choose an alternative browser from 1 March, Microsoft has announced. It follows a legal agreement between Microsoft and Europe's Competition Commission in December 2009.
Microsoft committed to letting Windows PC users across Europe install the web browser of their choice, rather than having Microsoft IE as a default.
Figures suggest that over half the world's internet users have IE. Testing for the update is already underway in the UK, Belgium and France. |

First appearing in Windows NT 3.1, the vulnerability has been carried over into almost every version of Windows that has appeared since.
The monthly security update will also tackle a further 25 holes in Windows, five of which are rated as "critical" |

Music industry representative the BPI has criticised the approach used by a UK law firm in chasing file-sharers.
Law firm ACS:Law has sent thousands of letters to people it claims have downloaded illegal content.
The BPI said it did not condone the approach of mass-mailing alleged internet pirates.
A law firm that represents some of those sent letters has called on the Information Commissioner to investigate the matter.
The BPI said it would not be adopting the same approach as ACS: Law if UK legislation on the issue of illegal file-sharing comes into force.
"We don't favour the approach taken by ACS:Law to tackle illegal file-sharing," said spokesman Adam Liversage.
"Our view is that legal action is best reserved for the most persistent or serious offenders - rather than widely used as a first response," he added. |

Stuck in doors and thinking of heading out for a walk well why not check out some Geo Caching huh I here you cry this is'nt a computer game. Pop on over to geochaching.com and have quick peek its free to sign-up and its also worldwide just pop in your area details on front page and check some local caching sites near by you.
The basics are, you jot down the GPS cords from the web site of the cache you want to try and find there are millions to find. Once you find it (some times they have been found and removed) there might be a log book inside to write a note and even sometimes there are swapable items like batteries and even travel bugs which you can take and place in another cache later on. Its a big kids treasure hunt (though kids love it to!!) with out the treasure but still very rewarding past time and pretty good fun and it will take you to some spots that you would nt have thought of heading out to. |
